Leave the crowds for a fascinating insight into local life
The centre of Ibiza is far from the hustle and bustle of Ibiza Town or San Antonio. The rolling hills, lush woodland and small farms are even more peaceful when viewed astride a beautiful Andalusian horse.
The traditional, yet bohemian, village of San Gertrudis is where the horse riding guide Vicente was born; a sort of Ibiceno Clint Eastwood, with an easy smile and excellent English. The village has few tourists, but is popular with those in the know and home to many Brits who have moved to Ibiza. A visit is opportunity to find out about traditional farming methods while taking in the gorgeous scenery from your horseback vantage point.
The Sunset Ride is a great way to explore this hidden corner of the island in the soft, evening light. When the moon is full you can take advantage of the bright, night skies with a romantic, moonlit trek to a local bar or restaurant, before riding home to the ranch.
